How to improve the result of the operation
It is surprising how the same operation produces different results from one person to another. Therefore, one of the most important aspects for groups that treat obesity is to optimize the results of the operation. Several research studies have shown that the main factors related to patients' progress are their motivation, what they know about the operation and the extent of their commitment, along with the amount of help that medical staff may provide. Convinced of the importance of these aspects, we have designed a multidisciplinary and comprehensive treatment program, in which various specialists, such as; nutriologists, psychologists, physical therapists and nurses, together with the surgeon, educate, treat and observe patients.

Once patients have decided to have an operation to lose weight, and no contraindication has been detected during the preliminary assessment and in laboratory tests, they are invited to take a course lasting approximately two hours during which nutrition, psychology, physical therapy and nursing specialists analyze the most important aspects of pre-operation preparation and hospitalization. This group observes patients' progress during hospitalization and another course is given one week after the operation to review patients' recovery and long-term progress. A visit program is suggested so that patients may be properly observed.
It is very important that before patients make the final decision, they acquaint themselves with the types of surgery available, that they are familiarized with the nature of their operation, and that they clearly understand the demands and repercussions of the operation.
