  • It is important to learn how your new stomach works, so that you may change your eating habits and achieve the best possible results after your operation.
  • Always eat sitting down and chew slowly. Stop eating when you feel satisfied. Learn to establish when you feel satiated, so as not to feel unwell.
  • Do not drink any liquid with your food. Wait at least 30 minutes after eating.
  • You should eat proteins first, then vegetables and, if you are still hungry, some carbohydrates. This will help you to follow a suitable diet.
  • Eat three meals a day and two light meals. Try not to eat between meals.
  • Avoid food and liquid with lots of calories, e.g.: sodas, milkshakes, chocolate, cakes, cream, ice cream, pastries, junk food, etc. Some patients may feel sick when eating these food (Dumping Syndrome).
